Shamrock Heights in the Renton Highlands is near and dear to my heart as it’s where my Green housing passion began. I was asked to sell a 4-star BuiltGreen™ home in this neighborhood before I even knew what BuiltGreen™ was.

Shamrock Heights by Camwest has been an ambitious community from the start. It is one of the first BuiltGreen communities in all of Renton. Not only is Shamrock Heights a BuiltGreen™ community, it’s also a NW Energy Star neighborhood as well.
What I love about Shamrock Heights is the long list of Green features, sustainable building practices. The community features 9.5 acres of green-belts, Rain Gardens and a community park. During construction emphasis was placed on protecting native plants and wetlands. Rain Gardens and channels were installed for storm water management. Landscaping included drought tolerant plantings, green mulch to retain soil moisture, shade trees for landscape protection, low watering and low maintenance grass as well as non-toxic and low-toxic fencing timber.

The homes themselves were built with long-life, low-maintenance building materials and windows were orientated to capture passive solar heat. High efficiency and Energy Star Certified appliances, water heater and furnaces were installed.
The “Green Life” features go and on. You can view a comprehensive list of these features here. Of course you’ll want to get as much documentation from the current owner regarding any changes they might have made such as new plants or any new paint to ensure the Green features you seek have maintained the integrity and make sure you are working with Green Certified Real Estate Brokers who understand the importance of documentation for Green features to avoid any “Green Washing”.
Not only is the neighborhood green, it’s well laid out with wonderful winding sidewalk lined streets, a private park, walking distance to a small mini-mart, easily accessible to I-405 and both Seattle and Eastside destinations while being served by the highly sought after Issaquah School district. Floor-plans are extremely versatile and beautiful. Call me today for more information about this incredible community.
Homes were built between late 2005 and because of the housing bust, some of the lots were not finished until 2011. Square footage starts in the smallest home at 1950 square feet and the largest is just over 3600 square feet. Lot sizes run from just over 4,000 square feet to approximately 5,500 but the massive amount of land dedicated to the green belts, rain channels and community parks more than make up for the lot size.
Shamrock Heights is controlled by a Homeowner’s Association. You can read about their by-laws, fees and management by clicking here.
